Making Infographics More Interactive with Video

What is an infographic?

An infographic is defined as, “a graphic visual representation of information, data or knowledge intended to present complex information quickly and clearly. An infographic can improve cognition by utilizing graphics to enhance the human visual system’s ability to see patterns and trends.” (1)

You have mastered the fine art of creating an infographic; now what? How about an infographic video. Video is a cost-effective way to spread your message across as many platforms as possible, while maintaining a consistent design aesthetic. Yeah, we know, you have an awesome infographic. We agree, Infographics are pretty great, they produce better retention through exercising a viewer’s visual working memory, making them easier to recall. As visual content, graphics also help increase the speed of information comprehension by cutting down on the time it would take to understand a long-worded written concept. Infographics are definitely more memorable than text alone, but you know what are more memorable than infographics? Videos. Video not only satisfies the visual aspect of memory, it also covers the auditory aspect. This combination results in the fact that consumers only retain 10 percent of text they read, but up to 95 percent of a video they watch. (3)
